Lianne Sanderson has returned to Arsenal Ladies.

The 26-year-old forward came through the Gunners’ Centre of Excellence to win five league titles, four FA Women’s Cups and the Uefa Women’s Cup in her first spell with the club.

Sanderson returns to Arsenal from Boston Breakers in the United States, where she also enjoyed spells with Philadelphia Independence and DC United Women. She most recently played for Apollon in Cyprus in their recent UWCL campaign.

An England international, Sanderson has scored 13 goals in 40 appearances for her country.

Arsenal Ladies manager Pedro Losa Martinez said: “Lianne is a player of outstanding quality. She is quick, strong, a great finisher - she has everything that you could require from a top striker.

"I know her abilities well from her time in the United States and in Spain with Espanyol, and I am confident that she will prove a big asset to the team.”

Sanderson said: “I’m so pleased to be coming back to the club I call home. I’ve got some fantastic memories of playing for Arsenal such as winning the quadruple in 2007.

"I grew up learning the game at Arsenal from the age of eight and I get a real sense of pride every time I pull on the Arsenal shirt, so I can’t wait to get started.

"I’m also really excited to be able to work with Pedro Martinez Losa, as I know all about his qualities from his time in the United States. There is a great spirit at the club and I’m really looking forward to returning to one of the best clubs in the world.”
