Bellerin - Early second half goals vital

Hector Bellerin says Arsenal's attacking start to the second half was crucial in setting up victory over Newcastle United on Saturday.

With the Gunners 1-0 up at the break, Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud scored before the hour to put Arsene Wenger's team in complete control.

Although Ayoze Perez pulled a goal back, Cazorla's chipped penalty ensured a convincing victory against the Magpies.

"I think it was a great performance by the team and we've got to keep [playing] like that"

"Newcastle are a team that were really strong in the second half, so we had to be switched on and I think the team worked hard for it," Bellerin told Arsenal Player.

"We worked hard for the goals and I think we deserved them. With players like Alexis [Sanchez] and Danny [Welbeck] up front with all that pace, and then Santi, I think we deserved the win and we did really well.

"I think it was a great performance by the team and we've got to keep [playing] like that."

Bellerin registered a first Premier League assist at the weekend and is happy with his development so far this season.

"I'm pleased with my performance," he said. "All the lads have supported me through the loss against Stoke.

"The players have been really supportive with me and I'm really pleased with the confidence they gave me. It's them that made me play like that.

"I don't play like that by myself, I play like that because I've got really good players that help me. I'm really pleased.

"It's nice to get an assist but it's the work of the whole squad, and I'm really pleased for them."
