Foundation supports East Africa appeal

We have committed a donation of £50,000 to our global charity partner Save the Children, to help support the fight against famine in East Africa.

Millions of children are at risk of extreme hunger across South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya.

Back-to-back droughts, failed rain and war have already left hundreds of thousands of children acutely malnourished and now 20 million people are under threat of severe hunger.

Save the Children is working hard to reach drought affected communities and we are getting behind their efforts.

Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis said: "The situation in parts of East Africa is very serious indeed. The Arsenal Foundation has supported Save the Children’s relief efforts before, around the Japan earthquake, the Ebola outbreak, the Philippines typhoon, the Nepal earthquake and the child refugee crisis.

"We are in a privileged position to continue to make a difference and we want to play our part in preventing this crisis from becoming a catastrophe."
