Press conference

Walcott’s future and Wilshere’s... ice skating!

Arsene Wenger is asked about a range of subjects at his press conferences… but ice skating is not usually one of them.

The Arsenal manager was quizzed about pictures of Jack Wilshere taking part in the activity - before talk turned to Theo Walcott’s future.

This is what he said:

on if Wilshere will start against BATE Borisov…

Yes.

on Wilshere being pictured ice skating…

It’s not ideal - for your balance it’s not bad! But for a footballer I don’t think it’s great. It depends as well on what you do.

on Wilshere ice skating given his injury history…

I didn’t know that. I just heard that. You can do ice skating by bringing your child on and just making sure nothing happens to him, and [you can do] ice skating violently, I don’t think he did that!

on if Walcott will play…

Yes.

on if Walcott has a future at the club…

Yes, I think he works very hard to come back into it. He was sick a few weeks ago. After, I didn’t change the squad. But in training he looks very sharp and I’m sure he’ll show that tomorrow.

on if Walcott will stay in January…

Yes.
