Florida Cup announcement

Our men’s first team will be travelling to the United States in July to compete in the seventh edition of the Florida Cup as part of our preparations ahead of the 2021/22 season.

We’ll be taking part in a four-team tournament in Orlando alongside Premier League rivals Everton, Serie A champions Inter Milan, and Colombian side Millonarios.

We’ll face Inter Milan on Sunday, July 25 with Everton taking on Millonarios on the same day. The winners will play in the Florida Cup final on Wednesday, July 28, with the other two sides playing each other on the same day.

All matches will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. This multi-sport venue hosted five matches during the 1994 World Cup and nine men’s and women’s matches during the 1996 Olympic Games. The stadium is home to several US college teams and is also a candidate to host games during the 2026 World Cup.

The two matches come during a week-long training camp in Florida from July 21 to 28. This follows our trip to Scotland for a training camp in Edinburgh, with previously announced fixtures against Hibernian and Rangers on Tuesday, July 13 and Saturday, July 17 respectively.

Mikel Arteta, said: “We’re very pleased to see our pre-season plans ramping up with the announcement of our trip to the United States to take part in the Florida Cup. It will be great for our first-team squad to play two games in front of our US-based fans and the tournament features three good sides that will provide strong opposition. The training and matchday facilities in Orlando will provide a first-class environment for our preparations for next season.”

Technical director Edu, added: “The Florida Cup matches, together with the Orlando training camp, will provide Mikel and the squad with an excellent level of preparation as we focus on next season. This adds to our already announced matches and training preparations in Scotland. We look forward to confirming further plans for our pre-season very soon.”
