Ramsey - Wembley win meant everything

It doesn’t get much better than scoring the winner on Emirates FA Cup final day - and Aaron Ramsey has done it twice.

Olivier Giroud set him up against Hull City in 2014 and repeated the favour in May as Chelsea were beaten 2-1 at Wembley. And this latest moment of glory tasted even sweeter.

“No disrespect to Hull after I scored the winner against them, but against Chelsea, they were champions of England at the time,” said Ramsey. “It meant everything for us on the day to come away with that cup and we left everything out there.

“It was another brilliant day for us, for the football club and the fans. We had our ups and downs last season but it was important for us to finish off strongly and to finish the season off with a bit of silverware. To get the winner was another amazing feeling for me. I’ve been lucky enough now to achieve that and experience that twice.”

Momentum is vital in football and we certainly have it after that Wembley win and two early summer signings. Ramsey thinks we can build on that - if we find some consistency.

“I do feel good about this season,” he said. “This squad has come on and we’ve shown what we’re capable of doing in certain games for example, the cup final.

“We can match the best and it’s about just getting that consistency over the season. Hopefully we can do that and have a bit of silverware to show for it at the end of the season.”
