International Watch: Ramsey scores in Wales win

Ramsey celebrates for Wales

We had two players in action for their respective countries on Thursday night. Read on to find out how they got on.

Aaron Ramsey scored in Wales’ opening UEFA Nations League clash, as they ran out 4-1 winners over the Republic of Ireland.

Tom Lawrence broke the deadlock with a driven finish, before Gareth Bale received the ball on the edge of the box, cut in on his left foot and delivered a stunning curling effort into the top corner.

And it wouldn’t be long before Ramsey found his way on to the scoresheet, when he found space inside the box and tucked the past Darren Randolph’s near post.

Connor Roberts made it four in the second half with a volley across goal, but Ireland would eventually go on to pull one back through Shaun Williams, who chipped the ball over Wayne Hennessey.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was also in UEFA Nations League action, and played the entirety of Armenia’s 2-1 win over Liechtenstein.

Marcos Pizzelli opened the scoring for Armenia with a stunning left-footed strike into the top corner, but in the 33rd minute, Sandro Wolfinger equalised with a simple finish from close range.

Mkhitaryan proved to be a constant threat in the second half and he went on to win a penalty, but his effort from the spot was saved by Benjamin Buchel. Armenia continued to play on the front foot with the visitors down to 10 men, and in the 76th minute they secured the win thanks to a cool finish from substitute Tigran Barseghyan.
