Alexandre Lacazette hailed the “perfect” send-off for Arsene Wenger as the boss waved goodbye to the fans in his final home match following 22 remarkable years at the helm.

A Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace, together with Lacazette, Alex Iwobi and Sead Kolasinac strikes, fired us to a memorable 5-0 triumph against Burnley at a sun-kissed Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

“It was perfect for him and he deserved it for all the years he has given to the club,” Lacazette told Arsenal.com. “It was a good win today, we played so well and deserved such a big victory.”

The France international has been in inspired form recently, involved directly in nine goals (eight goals and one assist) in his last nine games.

The 26-year-old was delighted to get on the scoresheet on such a landmark occasion and believes he and fellow striker Aubameyang can combine with devastating effect next season.

“Since I’ve been back I’ve been feeling and been playing well,” said Lacazette.

“Even with Auba, people having been saying, ‘Can they play together?’ We proved we can and with all the other players we played so well today.”

It was an emotional afternoon in north London. Not only were our fans bidding farewell to Wenger, but it was also club captain Per Mertesacker’s final home game for the club.

“He [Wenger] was no different, very professional as ever. But we are also very happy for Per, it’s great he got to play today and with that reception too. So, everything was perfect for the team and club today,” said Lacazette.
