‘It was important to take the lead'

He may have played a key part in our fourth goal at Swansea City on Saturday, but Aaron Ramsey is more satisfied to be heading back to north London with a clean sheet and three points.

The Wales midfielder helped Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross into Alexis’ path after Olivier Giroud and two own goals had given us a commanding lead.

However, after having to come from behind in each of our previous two games, Ramsey told the media that our biggest priority was to get on the front foot from the first whistle.

on the win…
We’ve started the last few games by going a few goals down so it was important that we took the lead. We did that ever so well, scored a few goals in the end and came away with a convincing win.

on being patient and taking half-chances…
One of our main targets today was to avoid conceding or going behind in the game. I thought we defended very well. We nullified them to a few half-chances. We overcame that, played some good football and came away with a win in the end.

on the half-time team talk…
It was just a case of being patient and waiting to break them down. That’s what we did in the second half and we’re just delighted to come away with the three points.
