Willock - Bukayo Saka's a special player

Saka

Bukayo Saka stole the show in our Europa League opener.

Starting a senior game for only the fifth time, the teenager - who only celebrated his 18th birthday two weeks ago - claimed two assists and curled home a spectacular strike as we won 3-0 in Germany.

Saka is now the youngest player to score for us in the Europa League, and fellow academy graduate Joe Willock had nothing but positive words to say about him.

"He's a special player and he got two assists and one goal tonight," he said. "I'm happy to contribute to the win with one goal tonight, but as a whole I thought we did well. It was a big match for us.

"They were very strong 1v1 and they pressed us very high, so we had to try to hit them on the counter. We had fast players so our game plan was to hit them on the counter and it worked. We had a lot of chances to score and we won.

"We talked about the atmosphere before the game, that the fans get behind them a lot. We just had to focus on our own game and we did just that.

"We love to get clean sheets and score loads of goals, that's exactly what we did tonight. We were strong today and we'll take that confidence into the next game."
