Interview

‘He has class, you cannot create that’

Kieran Gibbs is expected to make his first appearance at Emirates Stadium on Monday night since leaving the club this summer.

The England international spent 13 years in north London before moving to West Bromwich Albion and Arsene Wenger is backing him to succeed with the Baggies.

“I personally wish him very well, I have a big respect for Kieran Gibbs,” the manager told Arsenal Player. “He is a very intelligent player, he has the quality to play for England 100 per cent.

“But he’s a player with huge potential and we all have big respect for him here. But he wanted regular football and with Sead Kolasinac coming in as well, the competition for places was a bit too strong.

“He is a guy who has class, and you cannot create that. I think he will be like that his whole life.”
