Chambers - Atmosphere was amazing

Calum Chambers says making his first appearance in a north London derby was an "unbelievable feeling".

The teenager produced an encouraging performance as Arsenal battled back from a goal down to draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Chambers was disappointed not to claim all three points but felt the atmosphere inside the Emirates was β€œamazing”.

"You can just feel the atmosphere raises to another level during a north London derby"

"It was tough," he told Arsenal Player. "We knew it was going to be tough. It was my first taste of a north London derby and I really enjoyed it.

"I thought the fans got behind us really well. We're a bit disappointed not to get a win but I thought the team display was good and we can get positives out of that.

"[Playing in the derby was] amazing. The whole day, the whole occasion. The fans got behind us and were amazing and when we got that goal, you could see how much it meant to everyone.

"It's just an unbelievable feeling, how much they get behind you. They do that in every game but you can just feel the atmosphere raises to another level during a north London derby."

Chambers almost equalised during the second half, when his 20-yard volley shaved the top of the crossbar.

"I was devastated," he smiled. "It just went over the bar and it would have been a good way to start my first north London derby but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

"This team has got great character. It's a great group of lads and we'll go on to the next game, take positives from this game and learn from it.

"I think the work ethic and the desire we showed to come back from a goal down, and the passion we showed when we were a goal down, is what we can take into the next match and the games to come."
