WHAT HAPPENED

We moved back into third place in the Women’s Super League table with a comfortable 3-1 win over Reading at Meadow Park.

Goals from Kim Little, Dominique Janssen and Danielle Van de Donk helped us to secure all three points, extending our impressive unbeaten run across all competitions to 12 games.

We showed our attacking intent right from the off, with Jordan Nobbs and Danielle Carter coming close in quick succession.

But it was captain Little who opened the scoring when she checked in on her right foot, beat her marker and fired the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Mary Earps then rushed off her line to deny Vivianne Miedema after the Dutch forward had been put through on goal by Van de Donk, before we eventually doubled our lead in the 26th minute.

The Royals failed to clear a corner and the resulting goalmouth scramble that followed, leaving Dominique Janssen free to head home from close range.

Reading halved our lead in the second half when a cleared corner landed at the feet of former Gunner Fara Williams, who rifled a first-time volley into the bottom corner.

However, we killed off the visitors' hope of a comeback 13 minutes later when Van de Donk showed great composure in front of goal to round the keeper and find the back of the net.

That was enough to seal the win, as we continue to keep the pressure on at the top of table.
