Lucas scores in Deportivo win

We had three players in action for their loan clubs over the weekend.

Lucas Perez was on the scoresheet for Deportivo La Coruna, while Kelechi Nwakali and Stephy Mavididi both made appearances. Emiliano Martinez, Takuma Asano and Marc Bola were unused substitutes for their sides.

Lucas scored the equalising goal in Deportivo’s 2-1 win at home to Getafe with a left-footed strike into the bottom corner. The visitors took the lead early in the second half through Amath Ndiaye, only for Lucas to draw the teams level in the 66th minute. Three minutes from full-time Florin Andone scored the winning goal.

On the other side, Martinez was an unused substitute for Getafe.

Nwakali featured in VVV-Venlo’s 2-0 win away to Excelsior Rotterdam in the Eredivisie, playing 61 minutes for the seventh-placed Dutch side. VVV-Venlo took the lead in the first half through Clint Leemans and doubled their lead in the 70th minute with a goal from Ralf Seuntjens.

Mavididi played for the final 13 minutes in Preston North End’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland at Deepdale. The Black Cats took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark through George Honeyman, before two goals in two minutes from Josh Harrop and Jordan Hugill propelled the hosts into the lead. Aidan McGeady equalised for Sunderland just a few moments later.

Marc Bola was on the bench for Bristol Rovers in their 2-1 home win over Plymouth.

Asano was an unused substitute for Stuttgart, who fell to a 2-1 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt.
