Having come through one battle against Chelsea, the first-team squad faced another earlier this week as they went paintballing.
So what was the thinking behind it? Unai Emery explained the importance of bringing the squad together away from the pitch when the chance arises.
"I like a lot to do something different sometimes, in my career at all the teams," he said. "On Monday we prepared for this day.
"I think it was a good moment to do an activity together, away from here and also paintball is good for us to be together and do something different. We enjoyed it and it's also an activity where we can feel together and change some things in our work every day.
"Yes, yes, yes [the players shot me] - three times! But I think it's good. I enjoyed it and it's good to do something different for work and it's good also for our spirit."
