Leah named PFA Young Player of the Year

Leah Williamson

Leah Williamson has been named PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year.

The 18-year-old only made her Women’s Super League debut a year ago, but has become an integral part of Pedro Martinez Losa’s first-team squad.

Williamson was also named England Women’s Youth Player of the Year in January and secured her country’s place in the Under-19s European Championships after converting a dramatic penalty re-take.

“I’m overwhelmed,” she said. “It’s amazing to be recognised by fellow players so I’m just very humbled.

“It’s taken a lot of work since the moment I started playing football, but this is my first full season with the first team so you have to try to make an impact, make yourself known and give it everything you’ve got.”
