Loan Watch: Crowley scores for Oxford

Dan Crowley

Dan Crowley scored his first goal for Oxford United in their 4-2 defeat at Brighton in the EFL Cup second round. Sam Adekugbe got the hosts off to a perfect start after two minutes, before Wes Thomas equalised in the first half. Kazenga Lualua, Elvis Manu and Tomer Hemed all struck late on to put the game beyond doubt, but substitute Crowley pulled one back in added time when he cut inside Brighton forward James Tilley before curling a shot past Niki Maenpaa.

Tafari Moore played the full 90 minutes of FC Utrecht II’s 3-1 defeat against RKC Waalwijk. Johan Voskamp struck twice before former Gunner Nacer Barazite pulled one back with less than half an hour remaining. As the hosts frantically searched for an equaliser, Moussa Sanoh hit the target to put the game beyond doubt. Elsewhere in the Eerste Divisie, Stefan O’Connor’s MVV won 3-0 against OSS, but the defender did not feature.

Wojciech Szczesny could not prevent Roma from crashing out of the Champions League with a 3-0 play-off defeat against Porto. The first leg of their qualifier finished 1-1, but goals from Felipe, Miguel Layun and Jesus Corona condemned 10-man Roma to a loss.
