'We're deflated... but we'll bounce back'

Lisa Evans

We fell to only our second defeat in our last 14 competitive games as we were beaten by Chelsea at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

Danielle van de Donk gave us a ninth-minute lead but Bethany England and Maria Thorisdottir struck to inflict our first defeat of the season.

Our focus now shifts to Wednesday's Women's Champions League last-16 clash with Slavia Prague in the Czech capital, and Lisa Evans is keen to get Sunday's disappointment out of her thoughts as soon as possible.

"Obviously we’re a bit deflated," she told Arsenal.com. "It’s our first defeat of the season but we’ve got another game we need to turn it around quick in the Champions League on Wednesday and that’s where our full focus goes to now.

"I think we controlled the first half, we were really dominant on the ball. At times, we moved the ball too slowly but we got the goal, we got ahead and I think we looked really comfortable.

"They caught us a couple of times on the break but apart from that there were a lot of good chances created by us and we probably could have had a second goal at times. The first half was definitely a lot better and that’s the positive we can take.

"Now we've got to look forward to the Champions League. As a player there’s nothing better than having a game so soon after a game like [Sunday's], so it’s important that we run things around quickly and focus on that now, that’s our biggest game."
