Nacho - We were true to our style

Nacho Monreal has praised Arsenal’s faith in their attacking style of play against Norwich City.

In a tight match at Emirates Stadium, Danny Welbeck scored the only goal of the game with a well-taken strike after good work from Olivier Giroud.

Monreal was relieved to get the three points, and has now set his sights on next week’s crucial match against Manchester City.

“It was a very equal match between two teams with clear targets to aim for,” he told Arsenal Player. “It was more important than three points and we knew that we have to win these two matches at home.

“It was very difficult because Norwich defended so well and they needed to get some points. At first, we controlled the game but without creating any clear chances. In the second half, we scored the goal and won the match.

“Norwich showed a defensive side from the beginning and were looking to break on the counter-attack. We were true to our style of football, we always wanted to get the ball and look for the goal. So, in this sense, we saw the real Arsenal.

“[The Man City game] is like a final. The side that wins the match is going to finish third because I don’t think Tottenham are going to lose their three matches.

“So it’s a very important game. We have to take advantage of the fact they are in the Champions League semi-final and have to play a tough game against Real Madrid. We can have more rest and we hope to win.”
