U-23s: Manchester City v Arsenal - The Brief

THE STORY SO FAR

After 11 games we are fourth in Premier League 2 and following a confidence-boosting 3-0 win against West Ham last time out, Steve Gatting’s side will be keen to do the double over Manchester City this weekend.

THE OPPOSITION

The hosts sit eighth in the table, six points behind us. Having started the season without a win in their opening five games, City have since beaten Tottenham, Derby and Swansea City.

The Citizens top goalscorer so far this season, Lukas Nmecha, has scored eight times in six games, while Phil Foden has chipped in with three.

ONE TO WATCH

A stalwart for Gatting’s side, Julio Pleguezuelo is a player with the ability to play in more than one position at the back.

Having been captain of our under-19s and under-21s, the Spaniard also wears the armband for Gatting and provides consistent performances on a regular basis.

Following his return from a loan stint at Mallorca last season, Pleguezuelo has made nine appearances this season.

LAST TIME WE MET

We were 4-3 winners at Emirates Stadium in an eventful match, which saw Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah both bag braces.
