Internationals: Little scores, Evans assists

Kim Little

Four Gunners were in international action on Thursday night.

Scroll down to find out how they got on:

Kim Little found the back of the net in a World Cup qualifier for Scotland, as they recorded a 2-1 win over Switzerland in Group Two.

Emma Mitchell, Lisa Evans and Little all played the entirety of the fixture for Scotland, while our summer signing Lia Walti started at the base of Switzerland’s midfield.

Erin Cuthbert opened the scoring inside the second minute, thanks to a drilled pass from Evans, before Little doubled Scotland’s advantage with a deflected strike from a tight angle.

Less than two minutes later, however, Walti’s Switzerland pulled one back through Lara Dickenmann.

A win by a two-goal margin would have all but guaranteed Scotland automatic qualification for the FIFA Women’s 2019 World Cup, but Switzerland did just enough to hold their place at the top of the table.

Scotland will now turn their attention to their clash with Albania on Tuesday, September 4, as they aim to secure a playoff spot in their final outing of the group stage. Switzerland will face Poland on that day.
