Five Gunners feature in England U-17 victory

Xavier Amaechi

Bukayo Saka won a penalty and Vontae Daley-Campbell claimed an assist as England started their Uefa U-17 European Championship campaign with a 2-1 win against Israel.

The hosts started in dominant fashion and, after Saka went close with a shot that flew across the face of goal, they continued to pile on the pressure.

Eventually it told when Saka was hauled down in the area, and Tommy Doyle converted from the spot.

Israel equalised just before the interval with a spot kick of their own from Dan Lugassy, but England continued to pile forward after the restart, with Saka and Tyreece John-Jules going close.

Xavier Amechi then combined well with Arsenal team-mate Daley-Campbell for the latter to cross for Matty Daly to score the winner.

Amaechi almost scored a third for the Young Lions in injury time but he flashed a shot over the bar.

Flo Balogun played the final half-hour after stepping off the bench in the 58th minute.
