Lucas Torreira says our victory over West Ham United was "massive" for the confidence of the entire Arsenal squad.
Having been beaten by Manchester City and Chelsea, we came from behind to defeat the Hammers and afterwards the Uruguay midfielder spoke to the media.

I’m pleased that we’ve got the win at home against a very good team in West Ham after starting the season with two defeats. I was happy to get on too and help the team.
on the potential of the team...
We had some good spells in the first two games against top sides in City and Chelsea. We played well and took the positives from those games to prepare for today. It was a tough match today – we fell behind but we turned it around, scored three goals and played really well at times. This win will give us a confidence boost so now it’s about continuing to improve and continuing to work hard as a team – that’s the most important thing.
on working on the mental side of things...
I’m one of the newer players and I’ve just joined up with the squad. There are a lot of young players and we’re working very hard, with a lot of intensity. We’re getting to grips with what the coach wants from us and I think we’ve played some good football in the past few games. We got our first win today which was massive for us, but there’s a long road ahead and a lot of games to play, so the best thing for us now is to rest up, focus on our next game and concentrate on our preparation, which is vital.
on how he's adapting to the Premier League...
I’m really happy. It’s all very new for me because I’ve come from a different type of league. The climate is different here and the way of life too, but I’m settling in nicely and training hard – the sessions are different too. The confidence will grow with every game, so that’s great.
on getting into the starting XI...
Let’s hope so. You train hard, you give your all and you want to improve. I want to start but any time I get on is very important for me. For me the best thing is to be able to help my team, as I did today coming on in the second half, and we were able to get the win for our fans, who really deserve it."
