£1 million raised for Save the Children

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to confirm that the Arsenal Foundation has now raised a total of £1 million for its global charity partner Save the Children.

The milestone was announced at the club’s annual flagship fundraising event A Night to Inspire on Thursday evening with a special video featuring Kieran Gibbs, Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin. The ‘1 MILLION’ strip, worn by Giroud in the film, was the presented to the charity’s chief executive Justin Forsyth by Arsène Wenger.

Save the Children works in more than 120 countries to save children's lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential and has been the Arsenal Foundation’s global charity partner since 2011.

The Arsenal Foundation has supported education and training projects in China and Indonesia over the past four years, helping children receive a quality education in a safe environment. The club has also helped Save the Children respond to emergencies in the Philippines, Sierra Leone, Syria and, most recently in Nepal.

Arsène Wenger said: “We are proud to support Save the Children’s fantastic work around the world. I am very pleased we have been able to reach this £1 million milestone together and I would like to especially thank the players and our supporters for their generosity in helping to make this happen.”

Justin Forsyth added: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Arsenal players and fans for reaching this amazing fundraising milestone. Through The Arsenal Foundation’s ongoing support we have been able to respond to emergencies around the world and touch the lives of thousands of children with our vital work.
