Taylor - It's good to feel that support

When she scored her third goal in England's 6-0 rout of Scotland in the opening game of their Women's Euros campaign, Jodie Taylor joined a very exclusive club.

She became the first player to score a hat-trick for an England national team in a major tournament since Gary Lineker in 1986.

Pedro Martinez Losa was in the Galgenwaard Stadium on Wednesday night to witness his centre-forward join Geoff Hurst and Gary Lineker as the only England players to bag a treble in a senior finals - and Jodie appreciated Pedro's support.

“It’s nice to get little messages from them coming into the tournament," Taylor said. "And it's good to feel that support over here when I’m playing."

No player has ever scored four goals in a Women’s Euros but Taylor laughed off any suggestion she was frustrated at being substituted with half an hour remaining.

"No not at all - I’ll take a hat-trick in 16 minutes. It’s a long tournament ahead, rest the legs, I’m happy with that."
