WHAT HAPPENED

Our under-23s returned to winning ways in the Premier League 2 on Friday night as they ran out 4-0 winners over Everton at Meadow Park.

Kevin Betsy’s side slipped to a shock 3-0 defeat at Liverpool last week, but this time around they delivered a complete team performance from start to finish, scoring four well-worked team goals.

Building from the back, Charlie Patino picked up the ball deep inside his own half and sent a searching pass upfield, before Mika Biereth played through Folarin Balogun, who fired into the bottom corner on his weaker foot.

It was a controlled first-half performance and we pushed on after the restart too, creating a number of promising chances before Salah Oulad M’Hand doubled our advantage. Our No 8 kickstarted the move 30 yards from goal and showed great composure to skip past three defenders and finish into the top right corner.

Ryan Alebiosu then went on to make it three with a driven finish on a blistering counter-attack, before Zak Swanson rounded off the scoring deep into stoppage time.

With another driving run down the right wing, Alebiosu raced past his marker and crossed to the back post, where Swanson was waiting to score his second PL2 goal of the season.

WHAT’S NEXT

Next up, we will face Leeds United on Friday, October 29.

The game will take place at Elland Road with kick-off at 7pm (UK time).
