Losa - We have to work harder and improve

Pedro Martinez Losa was disappointed to see his side draw 1-1 with Bristol City at Meadow Park, rueing a series of missed opportunities against the Vixens.

After having gone into the half-time interval a goal behind, we came out strongly and quickly pulled level through Danielle van de Donk, but were not able to add a second to seal the win.

“It was not the result that we expected,” Losa told Arsenal.com. “We conceded an early goal which conditioned probably the confidence that we had on the pitch, but the girls came back with energy and I think we had so many chances. Probably the pressure and confidence from the game against Manchester City affected us as well in the final third.

“We came back in the second half being able to score one goal and we had a lot of time to score the second goal, create chances and I don’t know how many times two or three, but we didn’t score the goals that we needed to win the game, so I think we have to improve.

“We knew what Bristol were going to bring to the game, I think they competed very well, they were very organised, they had their plans and they put their plans into action on the pitch and we struggled in parts of the games with that. In other moments we dragged them, we exploited the wide areas, but we didn’t finish.

“I’m pleased when we win and I’m pleased when we play well, but I don’t think we’re doing that at the moment, so we all have to work harder for this club to make sure we can come as soon as possible to the level that we want to be”
