Internationals: Williamson makes England debut

Leah Williamson makes her England debut

A number of our players were in action for their national teams on Friday evening. Scroll down to find out how they got on.

Leah Williamson made her England debut during the Lionesses’ World Cup qualifying win over Russia in Moscow. Our Centre of Excellence graduate replaced Keira Walsh in the 84th minute to make her first appearance for the senior side, with Beth Mead also featuring from the bench. Nikita Parris’ strike and two goals from Jill Scott secured a routine win for Phil Neville’s side.

Danielle van de Donk

Danielle van de Donk scored in the Netherlands’ World Cup qualifying win over Northern Ireland. After Lineth Beerensteyn’s opener, our No 7 converted Shanice van de Sanden’s pass to double Oranje’s lead. Van de Sanden then scored herself, with Sherida Spitse and Jackie Groenen wrapping things up. Sari van Veenendaal and Dominique Janssen also started.

Katie McCabe

Katie McCabe and Louise Quinn both started the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying defeat against Norway. Lisa-Marie Utland gave the visitors the lead and, after Quinn was withdrawn 36 minutes into the game, Utland was on hand to fire home her second on the hour mark.

Viktoria Schnaderbeck

Viki Schnaderbeck captained Austria to an important win over Finland in World Cup qualifying. Emma Koivisto’s own goal put Austria ahead before Katharina Schiechtl secured all three points with 20 minutes left, as the visitors leapfrogged Finland into second in Group G.
