U-23s: Man Utd v Arsenal - Preview

By Connor Armstrong

Arsenal head north to face Manchester United on Monday night, with Marc Bola keen to continue building momentum after some recent good results.

The Gunners arrive in the North-West having taken seven points from the last 12 available. Victories over Derby County and Chelsea were punctuated by a young Arsenal side - comprised largely of under-18s - losing 5-0 to Everton.

But after drawing 0-0 with Southampton, Bola is confident ahead of the meeting with the Red Devils.

“We could’ve started better but we got our first win against Derby and we picked up a good win against Chelsea,” he told Arsenal.com. “We’re just kicking off and starting to build momentum now.

“I felt like we played well against Southampton, we had a lot of half chances but I consider it a point deserved. They played well, they had aspects and moments where they could have scored too, so it was a point well-deserved.

“United is a good game for us and it’s going to help our development. It’s our first time playing them this season, so it’ll be a difficult game, plus we’ve got the dynamic of the Willock brothers playing against each other, so that’ll be interesting.

“For them it must be quite exciting. I’ve always dreamt about playing against my brother so it’ll be a moment to cherish. But for us it’s just another game. We want to improve on the draw against Southampton now.”
