Two games, two wins. Our defence of the Women's Super League has got off to the perfect start.
But we have had to fight to preserve our 100 per cent record. West Ham nearly mounted a late comeback in our opening game, while we had to wait until the 89th minute to find the breakthrough against Manchester United on Monday.
It was a dramatic encounter, and we caught up with Joe Montemurro after the game. Here's what he said:

It’s a game where we had a lot of the ball and we probably let ourselves down in the first half in terms of our decision making on the edge of the box. We were so much better in the second half and we definitely displayed a little more patience with the final pass to break them down. It was a dramatic game and a great spectacle for women’s football. It was a deserved win.
on his passionate reaction from the bench…
We probed over and over and their keeper pulled off three worldies too, so it was such a nice feeling to leave with all three points. I felt for the girls because they really deserved it.
on our subs hyping up the team as they walked out for the second half…
It’s so important, it’s so important. Everyone has a role to play and I really can’t emphasise just how fine the margins are between me selecting a player and putting them on the bench. They can all do a job. This season we’re going to need to mix things up a little bit more, so when we need to play with three at the back we can do that, and if we need more numbers in the middle then we can do that too. We’ve got the option to be flexible with our team selection and that’s what’s going to hold us in good stead this season.
