Arsenal Double Club meet NFL stars

Participants of Arsenal in the Community’s ‘Double Club’ programme were introduced to American football on Monday by the Atlanta Falcons.

The youngsters have taken part in the Gunners’ programme at Paradise Park PRU and Falconer School and had the opportunity to try their hand at the sport alongside students from Bushey Meads School.

Supervised by the Falcons’ players, they practised kicking, throwing and tackling American football style.

The Arsenal Double Club programme is an innovative education and football programme which teaches a range of subjects combined with football coaching. It aims to fuse football and education to form a fun and enjoyable way for young people to engage with their academic studies and football at the same time.

Our Literacy resources, which use football to encourage young people to improve their reading and writing skills, have been used in schools, estates and alternative education provision within the boroughs of Islington, Camden, Hackney and Hertsmere. This year the resources are being made available on a digital platform for the first time.
