A day in the life - Jack Wilshere

The Arsenal and England midfielder told us about his typical day.

What time do you usually get up in the morning?

I usually get up at around 8am when my children get up.

What’s your first drink of the day?

I start the day with an espresso.

What do you usually eat for breakfast?

Porridge. Always golden syrup flavour.

Before heading to training, is there anything else that you generally do?

I drop my son off at nursery and then I head out for more coffee.

How long does it take you to drive to the training ground?

Around 20 minutes.

And what car do you drive there?

A Porsche Cayenne.

Do you listen to music or the radio on the way in?

Usually neither to be honest.

Do you always travel on your own?

Yes.

Are you usually one of the first in training, or one of the last?

I’d say I’m usually first.

What do you keep in your locker?

I keep shaving foam, deodorant, aftershave, training kit, new boots and my shinpads.

Do you have any special warm-up routines?

No, nothing special to be honest.

What aspect of training do you enjoy the most?

Probably the 5v2, the day before a game.

Which team-mate do you think is the best trainer?

I’d have to say it’s Mathieu Flamini.

Who do you tend to sit with at lunch?

Normally, there’s a table with the English players, oh and Aaron Ramsey, so it’s a British table.

Do you always head home straight after training?

Well I usually have lunch at the training ground, then head straight home, but some days I pick my son up first.

What do you do when you get home?

Play with my son and daughter, but if they’re not there I’ll be on the sofa, asleep!

What three things do you do in the evening?

Play with my son, watch Sky Sports News and… go to get more coffee!

What time do you eat dinner?

Around 8pm.

What’s the last thing you do before going bed?

I always watch TV.

What time do you go to bed?

Usually around 10:30pm.

Do you go straight to sleep?

No, I watch TV in bed – sometimes a film or a series, sometimes Sky Sports News.
