Jack - My memories of Norwich goal

Jack Wilshere says he didn’t realise how good his wonderstrike against Norwich City was until he watched it again on Match of the Day.

The England international scored the 2013/14 Goal of the Season when he combined brilliantly with Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud outside the area, before volleying the ball into the bottom corner.

Arsenal host the Canaries again on Saturday, bringing back happy memories for Wilshere.

“I remember we won the ball, and they were on the attack and it started off a bit slow,” he told Arsenal Player. “Their players were out of position and Flamini gave it to me and I sort of ran across the field with it, thinking about what to do.

“I played it to Kieran Gibbs, who then gave it to Santi and we moved up the pitch. Their players began to sit back and tried to stop us going through the middle and I knew we could get it through. Looking back on it now, it happened so quick. It was a proper Arsenal goal.

“I remember Giroud to me said straight afterwards, ‘That was a good one’. But when you are playing and it is all happening so quickly, you don’t think about that.

“It was only at half-time when one of their players came up to me and said, ‘Oh my god, that was a special goal’. When I saw it after on Match of the Day, I realised it was one of the best.”
