Loan Watch: Willock scores late Newcastle winner

Joe Willock

Twelve of our players were in action for their respective loan clubs over the weekend - but how did they perform?

Read on to find out:

Joe Willock scored an 82nd-minute winner for Newcastle United against West Ham on Saturday.

Following an early red card for Craig Dawson, the hosts scored twice before the break courtesy of an own goal from Issa Diop and a tap-in from Joelinton.

The Hammers fought back after the restart with Diop making up for his previous error and Jessie Lingard converting from the spot - but there would be late drama as Willock headed home off the bench to move Newcastle eight points clear of the drop.

William Saliba played 90 minutes as Nice were beaten 2-0 by Dijon on Sunday. Found Chafik opened the scoring in the 49th minute, before Yassine Benzie doubled their advantage from the spot.

Sead Kolasinac played the entirety of Schalke’s 4-0 defeat to Frieburg on Saturday.  Lucas Holer and Roland Sallai gave the hosts a two-goal lead at the break, before Christian Gunter struck twice in the second half.

Dinos Mavropanos played 90 minutes as Stuttgart were beaten 2-1 by Union Berlin on Saturday.  Phillip Forster was on target for the visitors, but his second-half strike was unable to overturn goals from Grischa Primel and Petar Musa.

Lucas Torreira played 20 minutes as a substitute in Atletico’s 5-0 win over Eibar on Sunday. Angel Correa scored twice in two minutes on the stroke of half-time, before Yannick Carrasco and a brace from Marcos Llorente ensured an emphatic victory. Atletico remain top of La Liga with seven games still to play.

Tyreece John-Jules made his return from injury in a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town. The young striker has been out injured since January and came on in the 62nd minute.

Mark McGuinness played the full 90 minutes in Ipswich Town’s 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic on Saturday. Matt Smith wasn’t involved for the hosts.

Daniel Ballard played the entirety of Blackpool’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday, taking them up to fifth in the League One table.

Zech Medley played 90 minutes of Kilmarnock 3-1 victory over Montrose in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Harry Clarke played 66 minutes as Oldham Athletic slipped to a 4-3 defeat against Morecambe on Saturday.

James Olayinka was subbed on in the 76th minute of Southend United’s 0-0 draw with Exeter City.

Joseph Olowu was involved for Wealdstone on Saturday, playing 65 minutes in their 7-2 loss to Hartlepool United.
