Wenger - We have stability and cohesion

Arsene Wenger says naming an unchanged team has given Arsenal stability and cohesion.

The manager has selected the same starting XI for the last six Premier League games, the first time the Gunners have done so since January 1994, during the George Graham era.

Arsenal struggled to find consistency at the start of the season but have been the top flight’s form team since the turn of the year, and Wenger believes that is helped by selecting a settled team.

"These games are under huge pressure so it is important we have a good level of confidence"

“We had positive games and positive results, and there is no need to change,” the manager said. “I believe we have a stability at the moment that brings us as well good cohesion in the team.

“That is vital when you go into the final part of the season. I always change players, and I can change one or two but never six or seven.”

Wednesday’s clash against Sunderland will be Arsenal’s penultimate Premier League game of the season and they have a chance to compete with Manchester City for second place ahead of the FA Cup final.

confidence level,” said Wenger. “These games are under huge pressure so it is important we have a good level of confidence.

“We have the possibility of taking six points but it will not be enough if Manchester City win their last game against Southampton. That is likely. How much chance do we have? I don’t know. The only chance we have is to win our games.”
