WHAT HAPPENED

It was a frustrating afternoon at The Woodspring Stadium on Saturday, as we were held to a draw by Yeovil Town.

This result means that we’ve now extended our unbeaten run to 13 fixtures, but given our dominance Joe Montumerro’s side will certainly be disappointed to leave with just a point.

Heather O’Reilly, Dominique Janssen and Danielle Carter all had chances inside the first 10 minutes, but couldn’t find their way past a stubborn Yeovil defence.

Louise Quinn worked a fine save from Megan Walsh, when she produced a powerful header following a Jordan Nobbs corner.

At the half-hour mark Beth Mead broke free of the Yeovil defence and had the beating of Walsh, but Thierry-Jo Gauvin was able to clear her effort off the line.

However, the best chance of the game fell to O’Reilly in the 34th minute, when she connected with a cross and headed against the bar.

Just before the stroke of half-time Walsh was once again called into action, as she produced a stunning reflex save to deny Danielle Van De Donk.

We continued to enjoy the majority of the possession deep into the second half, with the pick of our chances falling to substitute Vivianne Miedema, but the Dutch international was unable to find the bottom corner.

It looked as if we could win the game deep into stoppage time when Mead cut in and worked a shot on the turn, but the outstretched Walsh tipped her effort over the bar.

WHAT IT MEANS

We’re now just four points off second-placed Manchester City, with five games still to play.

WHAT’S NEXT

Our attention now turns to our WSL clash with Liverpool on Tuesday, April 24, as the Reds travel to Meadow Park. Kick off is at 7.30pm.
