Koscielny - Last year’s win a boost

Laurent Koscielny says last season’s 1-0 win at Borussia Dortmund will give Arsenal a huge boost going into Tuesday night's game.

Aaron Ramsey scored the only goal when the two sides met at the Westfalenstadion in November to help the Gunners reach the Champions League last 16.

Koscielny is confident another victory this time around would give the Gunners the momentum they need to make it through the group stage.

"We will go to Dortmund with confidence and we want to win the game because it¹s important to start the group stage well"

“We know Dortmund because we’ve played against them three times and they’re the biggest team in Germany after Bayern Munich,” the Frenchman told Arsenal Player. “They have a lot of international players and they're a good team who try to play football with movement.

“Last season we won 1-0 but it was a very hard game because Dortmund played very well. They have a lot of players who make the difference. They have Aubameyang up front who is very quick, so we know it will be hard.

“We will go to Dortmund with confidence and we want to win the game because it¹s important to start the group stage well.”

Koscielny remembers how loud Dortmund’s famous ‘Yellow Wall’ is, but he insists the hostile atmosphere will not intimidate the Gunners.

“The stadium is amazing,” he said. “The fans are crazy. They are behind their team during the whole game. So we know these stadiums and we know the atmosphere. We play without pressure, so the most important thing is to win the game. When you play you don’t hear the songs in the stand, so we just have to be focused on our game and winning.”
