WHAT HAPPENED

A dominant performance with five individual goalscorers saw us book our place in the semi-finals of the SSE FA Women's Cup, as we ran out comfortable winners against Charlton Athletic on Sunday.

We’ve now won seven consecutive games in all competitions, having defeated an Addicks side who had recorded nine successive victories prior to this fixture.

We got off to the perfect start when the referee pointed to the spot in the fourth minute, with Kim Little making no mistake in rifling the ball home from 12 yards.

We continued to press for much of the first half, but could find no way through. Danielle Carter came closest, but Charlton keeper Katie Startup did well to tip her effort over.

However, the pressure continued after the interval and in the 56th minute Heather O’Reilly raced through and doubled our lead with a close-range finish.

Substitute Vivianne Miedema then scored with her first touch of the game, before Carter converted Lisa Evans’ cross and made it four late on.

Jordan Nobbs rounded off a fine afternoon in the 90th minute with a crashing effort from 25 yards, as we took one step closer to our 15th SSE FA Women’s Cup.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN

We’ve progressed into the semi-finals of the SSE FA Women’s Cup, where we will face Everton at the Select Security Stadium. The game will be held on Sunday, April 15.

WHAT’S NEXT

We must now prepare for our home clash with Chelsea in the Women’s Super League, which will take place on Sunday, April 1. Kick-off is at 12.30pm.
