Loan Watch: Defeats for Lipman and Afobe

Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2014/15 campaign now underway, five Gunners are currently away from the club.

Benik Afobe played the final 32 minutes of MK Dons' entertaining defeat at London Road. Tottenham loanee Kenny McEvoy gave the hosts the lead and, though Dele Alli quickly restored parity, Kyle Vassell's late brace proved enough to give Posh the victory, despite Daniel Powell setting up a tense finale.

Austin Lipman started but could not prevent Boreham Wood from suffering their first defeat of the season at Staines. Max Worsfold and Callum Willock struck within four minutes to put the hosts in control and they held on to the lead despite Callum Reynolds halving the deficit after half an hour.

Injury kept Carl Jenkinson out of West Ham's opening-day defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur. Eric Dier struck in stoppage time to give the visitors victory after Kyle Naughton and James Collins were sent off.
