Emery - What Jack and I discussed before he left

Before Jack Wilshere announced he was leaving Arsenal, our former No 10 sat down and chatted to Unai Emery about his future.

“Our conversation was very clear,” Emery explained. “For me, one thing is important for him - to be a protagonist in a new project. Because maybe here he would not be the protagonist each match on the pitch. 

“It is a more competitive situation for him to play. I am happy if he finds [an opportunity to be the] protagonist at West Ham. The first conversation was in this direction.

“[We spoke] with respect, from everyone. Respect for his decision, respect for my decision. And then, we were speaking clearly and open for many questions between Jack and me.

“Now I am very concentrated on us and our players and also I wish him the best in his career at West Ham - [but] not Saturday! Before the match we can remember him, and then over 90 minutes we are thinking about winning this match.”
