Look back at our six previous Conti Cup triumphs

Katie McCabe, Beth Mead, Danielle van de Donk, Emma Mitchell and Leah Williamson of Arsenal with the Continental Cup Trophy

Since the FA Women's League Cup - or the Conti Cup as we now know it - was created in 2011, we have enjoyed a love affair with the competition, having lifted the silverware more times than any other club.

We have now reached the final in 10 of the 13 times it has been staged, and against Chelsea on Sunday we'll be hoping that we can have our name engraved on the trophy for the seventh time.

To get yourself ready for that final against the Blues, take a look back at our previous successes:

Arsenal 4-1 Birmingham City

After winning the Women's Super League and Women's FA Cup, Laura Harvey's side had the opportunity to secure a historic treble when they faced Birmingham City in the first-ever Continental Cup final.

We got off to a perfect start, going into the break 2-0 up against the WSL runners-up thanks to Ellen White and captain Jayne Ludlow netting within a minute of each other. We resumed our dominance after the break and Rachel Yankey was on target either side of Isobel Christiansen’s consolation to round off a flawless season.

Another year, another final and it was a rematch against a Birmingham team seeking revenge. With the sides again making up the top two in the WSL and each having already won a trophy, the game was a lot closer this time around with Emma Byrne needing to be on top form to deny Eni Aluko.

The game was finely poised going into the last eight minutes and it took a moment of magic from Kim Little to break the deadlock. She cut inside before unleashing a fierce drive past former Gunner Rebecca Spencer to help her side retain the trophy.

October 4, 2013
Arsenal 2-0 Lincoln Ladies
The Hive, Barnet

We reached the Continental Cup final for the third successive year but this time we would come up against Lincoln Ladies. Despite the change in opposition, the result went the same way and there were some recognisable names on the scoresheet once again on the showpiece occasion.

White rifled the ball into the bottom corner as the game approached the final 15 minutes, and Little secured the victory after she beat three defenders and found the corner to help us complete a domestic cup double.

November 1, 2015
Notts County 0-3 Arsenal
New York Stadium, Rotherham

Having tasted defeat against Manchester City the previous season, we reached our fifth successive final and regained the trophy by beating Notts County.

Jordan Nobbs struck twice in the first half either side of Laura Bassett's red card to put us in form control at the break, and despite County battling valiantly with 10 players, substitute Chioma Ubogagu completed the victory in stoppage time to give manager Pedro Martinez Losa his first trophy as our boss.

March 14, 2018
Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City
Adams Park, Wycombe

After City had re-seized possession of the trophy, the only two teams to this point to have won the competition went head-to-head, and Vivianne Miedema’s first-half strike proved the difference in a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

The Netherlands striker’s clinical finish was enough to edge out our opponents to secure the first title of Joe Montemurro’s tenure in north London. Viv latched onto Dominique Janssen’s deep cross in the box, held off her marker and lashed a measured finish into the bottom corner to decide the final.

March 5, 2023
Chelsea 1-3 Arsenal
Selhurst Park, London

Having lost in the subsequent final to City on penalties, we were then beaten by Chelsea in 2020 and had to wait three years to get to the final again, but when we did we managed to gain revenge against the Blues.

We bounced back from Sam Kerr's opener to score three times before the break via Stina Blackstenius, Little and a Niamh Charles own goal, and a solid defensive display after the interval ensured silverware returned to north London after a four-year absence.

Our women's side have been working hard at the Sobha Realty Training Centre ahead of Sunday's Continental Tyres League Cup final with Chelsea, and you can see that for yourself in our gallery.

We defeated our London rivals 3-1 in this same fixture last season with Stina Blackstenius and Kim Little on target, and we'll be hoping for a similar battling performance on Sunday as we make the trip to Molineux Stadium to face the Blues with silverware once again on the line.

Our club photographer David Price captured the team in the gym and on the training pitches on Wednesday, and you can take a look at the best photos below:
