Internationals: Xhaka and Sokratis feature

We had two Gunners in international action on Sunday night. Read on to find out how they fared.

Granit Xhaka captained Switzerland to a 5-2 win over Belgium in the Nations League.

Thorgan Hazard struck twice for the visitors inside the opening 17 minutes, but their two-goal lead would crumble before the break.

Ricardo Rodriguez converted from the spot in the 26th minute, before Haris Seferovic equalised with a thumping effort into the top-left corner. 

With less than a minute remaining of the first-half, Seferovic found the back of the net with a left-footed finish on the break.

Nico Elvedi then handed Switzerland a two-goal lead, before Seferovic completed his hat-trick in the 84th minute. As a result, Xhaka will feature in next year’s Nations League finals.

Sokratis played the entirety of Greece’s 1-0 loss to Estonia in the Nations League. 

Greece fired 28 shots at goal and averaged 79% possession, but it was the visitors who left with all three points.

The game’s only goal came when Vassillis Lambropoulous inadvertently bundled the ball into his own net as he looked to clear a low cross.
