Team news: Alexis, Ox, Mustafi, Gabriel

Shkodran Mustafi

Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest team news update ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup final against Chelsea.

The Arsenal manager expects to welcome back Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Alexis will be fit - but there is mixed news elsewhere.

This is what he had to say:

on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain…
Oxlade-Chamberlain is in contention because he’s back in training.

on Alexis…
Alexis is all right.

on if Alexis will start…
We’ll see. He needs to go through some tests at the moment and we’ll see how well he comes out of that. Knowing the player, knowing his character and knowing his commitment to the club, which I don’t question at all, he’ll make absolutely everything to be fit for Saturday.

on Shkodran Mustafi…
Mustafi, we still have some worries about. He’s still sick at the moment and has not trained yet.

on Mustafi’s chances of playing…
I don’t know. I have to listen to medical people.

on Gabriel…
Gabriel is out for six to eight weeks. We had a scare about his cruciate, but it’s only a knee ligament, so the positive is that he avoids surgery. He’s out until the beginning of August now, certainly.
